I had high expectations for the Debbie Allen directed Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. After all it is on broadway. It stars Terrence Howard, Phylicia Rashad, James Earl Jones and Anika Noni Rose.
I would give it 1 star out of 5. The seasoned actors delivered too much of the production upstage. They would often force tears from their eyes. There just wasn’t a connection anywhere. I was wondering why special lighting would descend on the person with the monologue dimming the others to darkness. I was confused as to why the audience just laughed throughout. It was as if they didn’t get it. They just didn’t get it, and I want my money back or at least give me the chance to direct it.
I know that I could’ve directed this better.
